The British trainers' championship reaches a crucial stage this bank holiday weekend.

Shropshire-based Philip Rowley leads Oxfordshire's Alan Hill by 35 wins to 29, but the chaser could close the gap at Dingley and Larkhill on Saturday, before running a squadron of horses at his local track of Kingston Blount on Sunday.

Rowley sends just three horses to the latter venue for what is effectively an away game, but will have a numerical advantage back on home ground at Monday's Chaddesley Corbett fixture, where Hill's team is limited to three. Hill landed the Foran Equine-sponsored title for yards with eight or more horses in 2013/14, but it would be a novel experience for his rival.
