The achievements of the Romanet family, which has been involved as top-level administrators in French and worldwide racing for more than a century, were recognised in Paris on Monday evening with presentation of the fourth Longines and IFHA international award of merit.

The award, previously given to Jim Bolger, Alec Head and Seth Hancock, was collected by Louis Romanet but also honoured his father Jean, grandfather Maurice and great-uncle Rene.

In a video tribute, Head said: “They have been a wonderful family for racing, we’ve been very lucky,” while the Aga Khan described Louis Romanet as “one of the most knowledgeable individuals of his time about international racing”.
