In this most uncertain of summers, there has been another Cameron step down from a revered role.

Cameron Hardie, as he started out on racecards before shortening his name, has opted to leave former champion trainer Richard Hannon’s southern powerbase and return to his Yorkshire roots.

At a midweek meeting back on home soil at Beverley, the rider is wearing the weight of his decision well. He might be a bit hot under the collar after being prised from the sauna but his physical appearance is not reflected in his frame of mind.
