The list of attributes and achievements that can be ascribed to David Mullins is already ridiculously long and deeply impressive.

Still four months shy of his 21st birthday, he remains the only man to have masterminded Faugheen’s downfall on the track courtesy of that inspired front-running turn on Nichols Canyon in the 2015 Morgiana Hurdle. And last April, he became the second youngest Grand National-winning rider, guiding Mouse Morris’s Gigginstown Stud-owned Rule The World to a famous victory at just 19 years of age.

If success in what is arguably the one racing event that retains genuine global appeal were not enough, Mullins then scaled the ultimate peak in terms of territorial glory when he conquered the Thyestes Chase with a finessed steer on the once erratic-jumping Champagne West a fortnight ago.
