Prolific pointer One Fine Morning has Clover in clover
You won’t find many 13-year-old geldings in training at the home of Flat racing in Newmarket, but Tom Clover of Kremlin House Stables has one.
Clover is not looking for a seller on the sand at Southwell for One Fine Morning, for the horse has become a favourite at the yard, and a rock-steady ride in point-to-points for the trainer’s brother Charlie. Tom takes the training of his one-and-only pointer seriously, and is lining him up for the first meeting of the season at Higham in Suffolk in late January. In a classic case of a course for a horse, One Fine Morning has won there three times in the past two seasons.
He says: “We’ve had One Fine Morning for two seasons and he’s been brilliant for Charlie, winning four races from nine starts. We heard he was for sale privately, bought him for a couple of grand from someone who was going to Cheltenham and wanted some betting money, and he’s proved to be so useful around the yard. My wife Jackie rides him every day and he leads the yearlings and young horses – I suspect this will be his home for life.”
