In a way, it is fitting that Robbie Power’s piece de resistance has come as he enters the twilight stage of his career.

Whatever happens next, and notwithstanding the glories of yesteryear that include his euphoric Grand National success on Silver Birch, Power’s understated masterclass aboard Sizing John in the Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup is the performance that will define him.
