'Positive progress' as problem gambling stabilises and trust increases

The Gambling Commission has said statistics it published last week which showed problem gambling rates stablilising and trust in the fairness of gambling increasing were "noteworthy changes on the gambling landscape".

The figures have come at an opportune moment for the industry as it works to convince ministers its actions are having a positive effect with the government's gambling review white paper expected to be published this spring.

The overall problem gambling rate for the year to December 2021 was found to be 'statistically stable' at 0.3 per cent of the population, the same figure as December 2020 and down from 0.6 per cent in 2019.
