'Politologue's the one they have to aim at' – Tom Scudamore joins our panel
Dan Skelton, David Casey and Pat Cooney also have their say
Will Politologue win a second Champion Chase?
David Casey, assistant trainer He didn’t do his chances any harm, but you’d imagine he’ll face a much tougher test in the Champion Chase. He will have a bit more on his plate if Chacun Pour Soi can get to Cheltenham well and sound. We think he is very good and I’d imagine he’ll improve plenty for the Hilly Way. We like what we’ve seen of him.
Pat Cooney, bet365 It’s easier to say no than yes, but he’s definitely on the shortlist. I’d be even more interested in his chance if you guaranteed me soft going, as he seems much better with ease in the ground.
Tom Scudamore, jockey He’s the reigning champion and has beaten everything put in front of him on his last two runs. He’s a bold front-runner, who has really clicked with Harry Skelton, and seems to be getting better with age. I was very impressed with him at Sandown and after all the defections he’s the one they all have to aim at.
