'A millionaire on the spot' - Paddy Power thinking big in bid to grow racing
An idea born on the trading room floor is set to result in one Paddy Power customer becoming a millionaire at the start of 2021 as the bookmaker seeks to boost interest in horseracing.
Paddy Power launched the Millionaire Chase in November, which culminates at Cheltenham on New Year's Day. Customers who opt in every week and then place a winning bet through the Paddy Power app or website on any of the six qualifying races from November 14 through to December 19 are entered into a weekly draw.
The lucky names will each be assigned a horse in the Paddy Power Handicap Chase at Cheltenham on January 1 when the winner will land the £/€1 million main prize. Everyone else who makes the final field will get a consolation price of £/€10,000.
