Paddy Power Betfair's Australian arm Sportsbet have called on the government in Victoria to open up the monopoly on retail betting in the state.

Only domestic giant Tabcorp, which holds a 12-year wagering licence in Victoria until 2024, is permitted to operate off-course retail betting across the state in TAB shops and pub terminals.

Sportsbet argue the competition in Australia's online betting market has led to greater choice for punters, product innovation and a "better overall experience for wagering customers".
