Five-timer puts jockey in mood for Betfair success
If it were possible for a tidal wave of confidence to carry a horse across the finish line, then it would scarcely be worth running today’s Betfair Chase. Northern challenger Seeyouatmidnight would surely be unstoppable, given the enormous swell of self-belief gathering behind his big-race partner Brian Hughes.
The form of the man from Armagh had looked sparkling even before he arrived at Musselburgh on Monday, but it took on a new sheen when he partnered five winners in one afternoon, backing them up with second places on his other two mounts.
And, while it may be customary in these circumstances to pay tribute to the hard-working agent who lined up such a formidable book of rides, there’s no doubting the 31-year-old in the saddle has the Midas touch at the moment.
