Newmarket open weekend renamed in honour of legendary trainer Sir Henry Cecil

Newmarket's annual open weekend has been renamed the Henry Cecil Open weekend in honour of the legendary trainer.

The weekend, which is on September 21 and 22 this year, features a wide range of events and activities, including showjumping and trainers opening their yards up to the public.

Of the name change, chairman Charlie Fellowes said: "A group of Henry's old owners have come together, and in memory of Sir Henry they have decided to lend their support to the open weekend with an exciting three-year deal.
