Safer gambling commitments are a 'significant change'

Safer gambling commitments promised last week to coincide with the formal launch of the Betting and Gaming Council represent a "significant change" in the work being done by the industry, according to the new body's interim chief executive Wes Himes.

Himes was speaking at a conference in London entitled Reputation Matters: The Gambling Sector in the Spotlight, where he gave more detail on the work the BGC will be doing.

The BGC succeeds the previous trade bodies for retail and online gambling – the Association of British Bookmakers and the Remote Gambling Association – and with the inclusion of the casino sector will represent 90 per cent of the industry.
