National Trainers Federation launches website for racing grooms

Stable staff numbers are falling in Ireland and trainers are beginning to speak out on the issue

The National Trainers Federation has launched RacingGroom.com, a website and resource designed to address recruitment and retention of young people in horseracing.

The website serves to inspire newcomers into the industry, dispelling myths about the roles of racing staff and highlighting the perks and benefits of a career in the sport. It is also designed as a resource for current racing staff and employers to complement existing careers advice services and to direct users to training providers, health and wellbeing support, job boards and the relevant industry bodies.

RacingGroom.com was made possible through funding from the Racing Foundation and the National Trainers Federation, whose chief executive Rupert Arnold said: “I'm so pleased to see the launch of this project, which has been the vision of my colleague, Shelley Perham.
