With several unexposed hurdlers from big stables taking part in Saturday’s Betfair Hurdle, the valuable 2m handicap could be informative with regards to which hurdlers are likely to be strong contenders at the Cheltenham Festival next month.

Two of the top three in the Betfair Hurdle betting have each run fewer than six times over hurdles in Britain and Ireland, and two of these will be running in handicap company for the first time at Newbury.

You can understand why bookmakers are taking no chances with Ballyandy and Movewiththetimes. Prices of unexposed handicap debutants may often look artificially short based on their bare form, but a number of the biggest jumps stables in Britain and Ireland have better records in valuable handicap hurdles with such runners when compared against their horses with different profiles.
