Joseph O'Brien has started the jumps season extremely well and the result of this above-average maiden hurdle underlined that.

The stable saddled two in the race, both of whom had won on the Flat for the trainer's father Aidan; indeed the winner Cook Islands was a horse who Joseph had ridden to previous success. It was the runner-up, though, who went into the notebook.
