It's been a long drive from the Cotswolds for just one ride, on a day when, if you didn't know better, you might think God had forsaken Lingfield Park and gone somewhere altogether warmer and drier. It's persisting down with rain and as cold as the proverbial well-digger's extremities, but Paddy Brennan is in no mood for negativity.

He's just spent two and a half hours in a confined space with fellow in-form jockeys Sam Twiston-Davies and Ian Popham and clearly the success hormones have been concentrated to an alarming level of optimism. Perhaps somebody should have opened a window.
