Grand National-winning jockey Leighton Aspell examines the Coral Gold Cup

Everyone looks forward to the Coral Gold Cup. When I won it on Many Clouds in 2014, it had been plan A ever since the end of his novice season, with everything geared towards the race, including a prep run at Carlisle.

That huge anticipation means things can spill over at the start. They got too giddy on Saturday and there was a false start, which was no surprise as jockeys just want to get a good position.

There are nerves and adrenaline, you could hear some of the guys becoming angry with each other and it can be really frustrating. They want to get away first time, they're on top of each other, there's a fear of getting kicked, and some horses can lose it in those moments.
