'Luckily our first horses weren't great - it's good to be conditioned to lows'
David Robinson tells Andrew Dietz about his great success from limited resources
David Robinson and wife Nicky have gradually turned a hobby into something more serious since entering into ownership 15 years ago. Having had success with Nicky Richards-trained stars Simply Ned and Baywing, they set up Langdale Bloodstock and are looking to unearth some exciting homebred talent in the future.
My first interest in racing came in my teenage years when I used to go point-to-pointing in the north of England, but it was only in my mid-50s that I entered into ownership. After focusing on my family and business for many years, I started to go racing more regularly with my wife Nicky and it went from there.
We got our first horse Pearson Glen with Jimmy Moffatt 15 years ago and he's at home with us at the age of 22. He was no worldbeater but he won a couple of races and we got the bug.
