Lots of hats and lots of money - but that will only get you so far
Robin Gibson reflects on the finale of racing's new team-based innovation
Dawn from Dundee is a Racing League superfan. She's followed the itinerant equine carnival since it started and Sky Sports Racing interviewed her after race four. Not only is Dawn a superfan, she's a proper supporter. She was wearing a Goat Racing hat. But it turned out she'd started off rooting for Team Swish. Why did she switch?
"Well, you know . . . someone gave me a hat."
Can the Racing League be about more than hats? Pick a recognised team – any team. Take Arsenal. They play in a league. But when Arsenal take the field and score goals – admittedly an unlikely scenario, but that's the idea – no-one in the crowd starts shouting "Go on you Emirates".
