L'Homme Presse's targets make him a must-have - Maddy Playle's Ten To Follow

As someone who tries to look outside the box, looking beyond the obvious has punished me in previous editions of the Tote Ten To Follow.

However, while I have succumbed in several divisions, I'm hopeful a few outlandish choices can give me an edge.

Picking novice hurdlers is a difficult thing to do with so much untapped potential to assess.

Let's make life easy by including last season's Champion Bumper winner Facile Vega, who has been hyped as if he could win both the Supreme and Ballymore on successive days.

A new name to note is Luccia, who looked a superstar in a bumper at Sandown last season and, if failing to make it against the geldings, has a cushty mares' programme to fall back on.

I am a huge L'Homme Presse fan and the way he's going to be campaigned means he will be a valuable team player. The 1965 and Ascot Chases look his for the taking, while I'd prefer him to Bravemansgame in the King George too.

With Shishkin uncertain to make the Tingle Creek, the obvious answer to the two-mile chase division is last season's champion Energumene, who could be even better this term.

Galopin Des Champs may not be guaranteed to stay the Gold Cup trip, but he has so much class he could earn points from two miles to three. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up going to the Ryanair and Allaho was switched to the longer race, but either way he is a must-have pick.

It's going to be a big ask for her to be as good as ever, but Honeysucklehasn't been beaten yet and is bound to reign supreme at least in Ireland, so include her to mop up those pre-festival Grade 1s.

I'm also going to take a chance and include the Morgiana Hurdle-bound State Manover Constitution Hill. Last season's County Hurdle winner has the option of going over fences if things don't work out and I suspect we may see more of him in bigger races pre-Cheltenham than Nicky Henderson's star.

Given he was my sole ante-post bet last season, it would be foolish not to include Blazing Khal, who looks well positioned to take over the staying hurdle division. He may seem a bold alternative pick to Flooring Porter, but my confidence in him is sky high.

She likely won't be very popular but I can see Mount Ida earning plenty of points. There is an obvious series of races for her, which aren't usually overly competitive, and she was also going well before unseating in the Irish Grand National last term so has potential for big handicaps too.

Corach Rambler ran well over an inadequate trip on his reappearance and races like the Coral Gold Cup and Grand National will be on his radar. He shapes as if he has plenty more up his sleeve and he isn't too dissimilar to Lucinda Russell's previous Aintree winner One For Arthur.
