Ladbrokes have asked for an independent review after becoming the latest gambling operator to fall foul of the advertising watchdog.

There have been a rash of complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority about marketing in the sector but Ladbrokes are the only firm among them to challenge a ruling.

The case stems from an email promotion for Ladbrokes Casino featuring an image of the Marvel comics character Iron Man. The ASA received a complaint which claimed the advert was "irresponsible" because it was likely to appeal to children.
