Job done as Lochangel propels Frankie into record books

Cometh the sixth and Frankie Dettori wasn't remotely thinking he might go through the seven-race card. There was a more immediate mission to accomplish. He was well aware that history beckoned him with a seductive smile.
Fresh from steering Fatefully to win the fifth, he was riding Lochangel in the Blue Seal Stakes, a six-furlong conditions race for two-year-old fillies. There were just five runners and Lochangel, a half-sister to champion sprinter Lochsong, disputed favouritism with the Henry Cecil-trained Corsini at 5-4.
"As soon as I put on Jeff Smith's colours to ride Lochangel, the whole thing suddenly hit me," Dettori says. "I thought, 'I can win this and make history'.
