What advice would you give your ten-year-old self?
Try harder at school. Everything's come all right in the end but I've had to go the long way round to get there!

What do you think racing does best?
It's been a big issue but what it does do best is the care and welfare of participants, and horses are looked after incredibly well, not just in training but beyond.

Other than better prize-money, what is the one thing you would change about racing?
I'd like to see the handicapping system changed as I feel it's too open to manipulation. People play the system and don’t reveal their hand in maidens to try to get a low mark. The current system rewards not trying.
