Jonathan Garratt is a good man to have on your side in a crisis.

Kelso's managing director is looking at numbers which might send chills through others in the same position.

After rejecting a fixed-rate energy offer that would have cost the racecourse £257,000 a year, Garratt is aiming to lower the track's consumption significantly.
