When the Arab racing season ended last month, trainer Steve Gregory could look back with pride on his best campaign – for the simple reason he had sent out his first, and so far only, winner in eight years of trying.

Any winner would have done, but this was far from that. Gregory’s seven-year-old Koline won the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies World Championship race, part of the prestigious Sheikh Mansoor Festival, at Sandown.
