Inspiring ex-racehorses celebrated at RoR end of season awards ceremony
Some of Britain's brilliant ex-racehorses were honoured at the Retraining of Racehorses end of season party last month, when the RoR Heart Award winners were unveiled by Clare Balding at Doncaster racecourse on Saturday, November 17.
The 15-year-old Danish Blue scooped the Heart Stopper prize, awarded for overcoming adversity. Helped by his rider Stacey Barr he transformed from being extremely underweight, with abscesses in his feet and rainscald, to qualifying for the British Dressage and RoR Championships.
"He is an amazing horse with lots of grit," said Barr. "He constantly raises the bar to new heights with each new challenge. He really is a diamond in the rough."
