The media rights stand-off between SIS and independent bookmakers has intensified in the wake of objections to SIS fees for next year from the influential Bookmakers Technology Consortium (BTC).

The BTC has written to every bookmaker in the UK and Ireland outlining six demands it is making of SIS, including a call for a two-channel solution to suit the independent sector. The letter urges SIS to work with the consortium “in a collaborative way”.

On April 1 next year the Racecourse Media Group (RMG) stable of racecourses moves to SIS from TurfTV but independent bookmakers representing around 500 shops have said they will not subscribe, a move that would cost the tracks involved £3.6 million in media rights payments, BTC claims.
