The autumn sales season for Irish point-to-pointers has seen an unusual and highly favourable combination of trading conditions, borne out by some exceptional figures in recent weeks.

A significantly reduced spring offering in early 2021 meant a larger number of high-quality horses were kept back for the autumn and, with the rain coming later than ideal, that quality was further compressed into a short number of weeks in the pre-Christmas period.

We must not forget that Irish pointers accounted for 13 winners at the Cheltenham Festival, which will have fuelled demand further.
