Imposing Ghaiyyath stars in David Baxter's Ten To Follow
As someone whose first port of call on a card is any two-year-old race, my Ten To Follow team does contain a few three-year-olds who impressed me last season, but there is also a smattering of older horses to try and cover as many bases as possible.
Godolphin would have been hoping Pinatubo lit up the Rowley Mile in the 2,000 Guineas, but it was instead stablemate Ghaiyyath who delivered a wow moment in the royal blue silks when turning the Coronation Cup into a procession. He's on target for the Eclipse, which is a bonus race, and he could emerge as one of the stars of the season.
One of the benefits of submitting my list over Guineas weekend means I can include the 2,000 Guineas winner, Kameko, safe in the knowledge he should be a live Derby contender and could be one of the top three-year-olds this season.
Quadrilateral ran well to finish third in the 1,000 Guineas. She reminds me of Legatissimo and if she proves up to that level, she can bank a lot of points over the season.
We haven't seen a lot of King Of Change yet, but he was last season's 2,000 Guineas runner-up and then won the QEII on his final start. I'm fascinated to see what he develops into this year, starting with the Queen Anne.
Globetrotter Prince Of Arran doesn't know how to run a bad race, and he's in the team with the expectation of delivering a big British prize, possibly the Ebor.
The sprint division doesn't look the strongest, and Battaash could dominate, and I've also included Garrus, who could progress through the ranks. Art Power looked very good at Newcastle and I'm intrigued to see how his campaign is mapped out.
I was a huge fan of Siskin last season and, even if he doesn't stay the Irish 2,000 Guineas trip, I could see him taking the Advertise path and being a top sprinter.
Finally, Mohican Heights might not come into his own until later in the season, but I am hoping he might be a St Leger horse.
