Hunter chase programme needs to be torn up and restructured - it's not working

Since 2006 the number of hunter chases run each season has remained largely constant within the range of 20 to 25 races, with the exception of 2013 when the number of hunter chases climbed to 27 races.

Sadly that consistency in the number of races is the only constant in this category, with the number of runners becoming a real concern when considering the future of the hunter chases.

In 2008 alone there were 124 horses balloted out of hunter chases, compared to just five horses in the combined five years between 2015 and 2019.
