Hooked ever since watching a real master at work
Ryan Summerfield, 22, tells us why he loves the festival
Without doubt my favourite part of the festival is the morning of each day – everybody has an opinion and everybody is right! The atmosphere builds and you think you have the puzzle solved as you go to war with the bookies. The general feel around the course before each first race is electric and unlike any other meeting.
I wouldn’t change anything about the festival. Four days is just right and I actually really like the mares' races – we’ve already seen the improvement in depth and quality from the first race last year to this year’s renewal, and it’ll only get stronger.
It was Master Minded’s Queen Mother Champion Chase that really got me hooked on racing. I remember casually flicking through channels on the TV and, as an avid fan of many sports, decided to give racing a try. It was the 2008 race where he stormed clear. Even without having a bet, or even any preference, I found myself urging this beast across the line. I’ve been hooked ever since!
