Why Ireland? Why now? Why break away from the BHA? Why take up an entirely new role in a new country? Why leave your Bristol home and bring your husband and two small kids on an adventure into the unknown? Why buy a house in the quaint Wicklow town of Donard rather than rent somewhere first to see how things go?
The answers to all of the above are revealed in one simple sentence: “Irish racing is the best in the world right now and I want to be part of the team which protects the best horses in the world.”
Dr Lynn Hillyer tomorrow begins her role as the first ever Head of Anti-Doping for the Turf Club and Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee and she is like a child waiting to go down the stairs on Christmas morning. She simply cannot wait to see what she is going to unwrap.
