What advice would you give your ten-year-old self?
I'd tell myself to work on my fluency with the whip with both hands. I didn't put enough work into that when I was younger.

What is your earliest racing memory?
My dad [David] trained a horse called One Four Shannon, who won the Pat Taaffe Handicap Chase at Punchestown in 2006. It was on a big day at the festival, so that one sticks in the memory for sure.

Why did you choose the Flat over jumps?
There are far fewer injuries in Flat racing, which more often than not leads to a longer career. I didn't even ride in point-to-points in Ireland, just pony racing. Becoming a Flat jockey seemed like a better long-term decision.
