'He promises to be hard to beat' - lessons to be learned from the Classic trials
Perfect Power tightened up in the 2,000 Guineas ante-post market following his victory in Saturday’s Greenham Stakes but he didn’t need to improve his Racing Post Rating, with a 114 performance figure 1lb below what he achieved in both the Prix Morny and the Middle Park last year.
It was certainly a satisfactory return to action, however, with his performance rated just above the ten-year average for the Greenham, albeit it fell short of the lofty figures achieved by Muhaarar and Kingman.
He will need to improve to be a contender at Newmarket, although connections are still reportedly considering the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas) and it is perhaps significant Christophe Soumillon has partnered the colt on his last three starts.
