Champion jockey and co-president of the PJA Kevin Darley on life as an apprentice under Reg Hollinshead.

I used to go there at weekends from about the age of 14, filling hay nets and water buckets as well as mucking out while lads were riding out.

He was very much old school. He never said an awful lot but the minute you met the guy, you just had that respect for him. And it was always a case of the horses coming first.
