Greatest human in the world leaves me awestruck and overwhelmed
They - whoever they may be - say you should never meet your heroes. It is a well known expression, but one I completely ignored on Wednesday night.
I met my hero. I met Michael van Gerwen - the world's greatest human - at an amazing darting exhibition organised by genial MC Paul Starr at Frome's football ground. Wedding day and birth of child aside, this was probably the highlight of my life.
Trouble is - much like wedding day and birth of child - I went to pieces. I was awestruck to be in the presence of this mountain of a man and turned into a gibbering wreck. The intimation of 'never meet your heroes' is that your hero will disappoint you. But what if you disappoint yourself?
