Grab A Grand: trouble-in-running for main selection leaves me wanting to cry

So close to winning that grand. To quote Lee Mckenzie during the paddock commentator’s post-mortem, “He was in the process of making what could have been a winning run when he had nowhere to go.” The trainer was convinced he would have won – and I stood to win over £1,000. Bum. Actually, double bum.

The day didn’t get off to a brilliant start. I was having breakfast when the waitress pointed the teapot in the wrong direction and poured the tea (I think it was English Breakfast) over my trousers – well, jeans.

It could have been worse, she might have poured it over the Racing Post. Anyway, I hadn’t had Crunchy Nut Cornflakes for years and they were lovely.
