Gambling Commission report finds negative attitudes to betting are on the rise

Public perception of the gambling industry is becoming increasingly negative if the findings of the Gambling Commission's latest report into gambling behaviour, awareness and attitudes are to be believed.

The report for 2019, which is based on quarterly telephone and online tracking surveys conducted by Populus and was published last week, found just 29 per cent of respondents thought gambling was "conducted fairly and can be trusted".

That figure was down one percentage point on 2018 but was markedly lower than the figure of 48.5 per cent recorded as recently as 2012.
