Frustrated by restricted bets? Then Cheltenham is surely the meeting for you

If I were asked to name the number one gripe among punters in the digital era it would be bet restrictions. I've lost count of how many people have complained about not being able to get this much on at that price and how account restrictions mean they just "can't get a bet on".

It's obviously frustrating when you see a price you like and try to place a £50 bet at those odds only for it to be referred to a trader, who offers you £1.86 each-way. I understand why punters are annoyed but it doesn't mean you can't get a bet on.

The truth is that you can place any bet you like. I've known several big winning punters who have had virtually all their accounts restricted or closed but they get bets on. They bet every day without any trouble, but what they can't do is get the bets on at the best morning odds.
