The Galway Plate, the biggest chase of the summer season, is only three days away and this year much of the pre-race publicity has centred on Bryony Frost, the darling of British jump racing who will continue her association with Black Corton, top weight in Wednesday's race.

Frost and our own Rachael Blackmore will be attempting to land the big prize. Should either succeed it will be a significant achievement but not a historic one in the two-lap charge around Ballybrit's unique circuit.

That happened 30 years ago when Sarah Collen became the only female to get her name on the Plate's roll of honour when she rode Bold Flyer, owned by her father Standish and trained by Jim Dreaper, to victory.
