Sandown racegoers on Brigadier Gerard night witnessed something seldom seen in Flat racing. The catalyst to a rare chain of events was Big Orange’s all-the-way success in the Henry II Stakes.

First came collective euphoria from the crowd as he bounded clear up the straight, then came hysteria as the throng flooded from one side of the grandstand to the other, determined to cheer their hero back to the winner’s enclosure.
