Apart from the surface itself, there is nothing particularly unique about Dundalk. It is a level track, almost 1m2f round, with a couple of sweeping bends, a long back straight with a home straight of almost three furlongs and really should suit any type of horse.

It caters for all types and the quality of racing during the winter has certainly improved. It is no longer mostly the preserve of the low-grade handicapper, although that type of horse is still generously catered for.
