From fragile miler to endurance star – the amazing story of Abseil

He might not have fulfilled his entire potential on the racecourse, but one-time Royal Hunt Cup favourite Abseil is certainly making up for it now.

Bred to be a champion on the Flat, he once carried the eminent silks of bloodstock giants Juddmonte, but give him a muddy field and a handful of Polo mints and he is more than happy with his lot in the sleepy Flintshire village of Trelawnyd.

Based with his doting owner Tracy Sieminski, Abseil has competed in cross-country, showjumping, dressage and endurance competitions in recent years, and at the Retraining of Racehorses awards last month he scooped the elite endurance prize.
