Frodon posts big figure - but don't discount the beaten horses at Down Royal
Paul Nicholls gained a fifth win in the Ladbrokes Champion Chase, and a first since 2012, courtesy of Frodon beating Galvin by a hard-fought three quarters of a length.
Under a fine front-running ride from Bryony Frost, Frodon recorded an RPR of 173, his highest figure since winning the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup off a mark of 164 in 2018, and the best in the race since Don Cossack in 2015.
Galvin had posted an improved performance when winning a Grade 3 at Punchestown on his reappearance and confirmed that he is a Grade 1 performer, progressing again to an RPR of 172.
