Double Olympic eventing medallist Astier Nicolas has recalled the time he spent at Roger Charlton’s Beckhampton Stables in Wiltshire in the run-up to a memorable few days in Rio.

Nicolas set France on the road to the team gold with an exhilarating round in the cross-country section aboard Piaf de b’Neville, before anchoring the quartet to Olympic glory in the team showjumping phase.

Six faults in the final round of showjumping was not enough to deprive the 27-year-old of the individual silver medal at what was his first Olympics.
