The chief executive of The Stars Group, Rafi Ashkenazi, said last week the widely expected result of the government's triennial gambling review could be a positive one for the new owners of leading online operator Sky Bet.

The Canadian owners of the online PokerStars brand agreed a £3.4 billion deal with CVC and partner Sky to buy Sky Bet last month, a deal that is expected to close in the third quarter.

Ashkenazi was speaking to analysts as The Stars Group unveiled its results for the first quarter of the year, with total net revenues up 23.8 per cent at $392.9 million.
