It is never too late to try out new things. Just ask Nick Solari, who had happily spent 70 years of his life without a second's thought about becoming a racehorse owner until he got involved in a pub syndicate, more than ten years after his retirement from the advertising business.
The pub in question is the George Inn in the Hampshire village of Vernham Dean, and their syndicate horse is the Emma Lavelle-trained seven-year-old Fortunate George, set to go novice chasing this year after winning a bumper and a couple of handicap hurdles for his enthusiastic owners.
