It's 11.30am in Dunshaughlin, County Meath, and the next lot is up. Among them could be a horse capable of bringing Eddie Lynam back to the top of the sprinting table.

Step forward Soffia. Nothing special to look at, but then again nor was Sole Power, the diminutive speedster who broke the sound barrier for the Lynams, winning five Group 1s.

These famous gallops, which were also a playground for Royal Ascot winners Slade Power and Anthem Alexander, have been a soundtrack of slow horses in recent seasons.
