Evaluating the 2017 Classic generation during the middle of the Christmas jumps festivals may well be regarded as sacrilege by some, but the 2017 Flat season promises much, and if 2016 is anything to go by there is a fair chance the main Classic hopes are flying underneath the radar.

What we shall attempt to do this week is to locate a blip or two on that screen who could well be a household word by the end of the next Flat season.

One of the horses we are looking forward to seeing, hopefully early in the season, is the Michael Halford-trained colt Ambassadorial.
